Family
During my time living in the United States, I met the love of my life in May of 2004, a real Newfie from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland. We fell in love quickly, and the desire to start our own family was so strong that we tied the knot in December of the same year. Our marriage has been blessed with two amazing boys, ages 13 and 15. We fondly refer to our multi-racial family as the “United Nations'' because under one roof we have a Canadian, two Americans and a Nigerian-Canadian, all living together in harmony.
Education
I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious University of Nigeria in 1995. When my family relocated to Newfoundland in 2008, I was determined to acquire a valued Canadian education, and in 2013 I obtained a Master of Technology degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In my quest for higher knowledge, I continued to further my education by enrolling in various advanced certificate courses. Recently, I completed an advanced certificate program in Business Analysis from Mount Royal University. In 2019, I became aware that our city was in dire need of highly skilled and qualified personnel to run its affairs in the area of policy making. So, in an effort to do my part, I enrolled in a Master’s of Public Administration program. It is my pleasure to let you know that my final research paper was submitted on July 10, 2021. The certificate should arrive in the mail very soon. I am well equipped and determined to give the very best to the good people of this great city.
Career
In 1998, I began my career as a Telecommunications Engineer with Alcatel Lucent. In 2002, I moved to the United States where I operated my own business as an IT Consultant. Since relocating to Canada, I have worked in various capacities as an IT Technician, Database Administrator and currently, I am the IT Project Manager for the County of Grande Prairie.
Community Involvement
I do not sit idle while things are not working right. I believe that we all need to contribute to making our city great in any way we can. I am actively making contribution by volunteering my time as a board member in some organizations within the community, among these are:
-
Grande Prairie Centre for Lifelong Learning
-
The John Howard Society
-
Appointed public member of the City’s Community Enhancement Advisory Committee in 2019
-
Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership
I am willing and looking for other opportunities to serve our great city and being a member of council is one of such avenues. I intend to devote myself to ensuring that Grande Prairie becomes a crime free city. We will build a culture of love and unity and usher in an atmosphere of wellbeing and economic prosperity. Together, We Win.
